Have you tried, unsuccessfully, to resolve negative patterns of thought and reactivity? Do you feel you sabotage your own efforts at having a positive life?

If you answered “yes" to the above questions, this workshop is for you.

Most of us enjoy the feeling of well-being.  If our circumstances are good, we feel that we are in a positive flow with life. However, sooner or later something or someone comes along and BAM that flow gets interrupted!  We lose our sense of well-being and get lost in reactivity to the negative event/person.

If something or someone on the outside doesn’t interrupt our well-being, we might do it on the inside.  We might interrupt ourselves by ruminating on negative thoughts.

Our patterns of self-destructive behavior are grooved into our neural pathways.  We don’t have much mastery over regulating our responses to what life blows our way.  Regular talk therapy can shine a light on these patterns of behavior, but it often falls short of actually changing them. IBP offers the tools you are seeking to change those neural pathways.

This workshop will experientially give you a chance to identify your undermining patterns, and to understand why they happen.  You will learn how to resolve your destructive behaviors and thoughts and get tools for being awake, grounded and present in your well-being.  The workshop includes strategies for managing any future interruptions.

Wiring Adolescent Brains For Authentic Intimacy in a Hyper-Sexualized Culture

DATE: May 22, 2018. 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

LOCATION: Santa Monica Airport

Did you know?

·      Age 11 is the average age boys first view porn.

·      40% of adolescents watch porn on their phones.

·      88% of the most popular porn scenes contain violence against women.

·      20% of sexts are photos of children age 15 years old or younger —mostly girls.

Here’s the issue:  Neurons that wire together fire together!   Our children easily, and sometimes accidentally, access hardcore porn. Many of them are watching it frequently. All of them are being influenced by our hypersexualized media.  If they are wiring their brains to visual, violent, explicit, mysogynistic sexual stimulus before they ever experience their own sexuality with another human, what chance do they have for an authentic intimate experience? Plenty of evidence suggests this wiring is harming their developing sexuality and intimacy.

As parents, we have a choice—step up to actively educate our children about healthy sexuality, or let them educate themselves through popular options which are proving to be dangerous.

While this workshop is intended to provide adults with information to support their children, mature teenagers who can handle explicit information and photos are welcome to attend in order to educate themselves.

In this workshop we will:

·      Investigate the risks that many of our children are taking — or are about to take—with their sexuality.

·      Explore concrete ways to support our children in authentically discovering and expressing their own healthy sexuality.
